On Sept. 14, 2007 I told you about my friend's father losing his battle to ALS. Tonight, my same friend called to tell me her brother died this morning.

This was a complete shock. Steve has not been ill, but told his mother last night that he had a stomachache. This morning he threw up a lot of blood, so his roommates called 911. When the paramedics got there, they were unable to revive him (I don’t know if he passed out before or after 911 was called). They got him to the hospital and tried several things to revive him, but were unable to. The doctors said it was death from natural causes due to upper GI bleeding. They further explained that Steve had a lot of blood in his stomach and was either slowly bleeding to death over night, or got blood in his lungs when he threw up, which caused suffocation.

The family, as you can imagine, is in complete shock and are in need of our thoughts and prayers. Services will be held later this week.
