Today's image: A snow-infested Reggie. It was too cold for this to happen today, but by Friday it's supposed to be warm enough for the snow to start melting and attacking Reggie's legs like this each time he goes out. Poor guy. Click for a close up.
It was cold today, but it didn't feel as bad as I expected. The sun stayed out and shone upon on us keeping the "feel like" temperature higher than expected. I'm very thankful not to be outside this evening because the sun has been gone for hours and it is wicked cold out.
Since the cold wasn't as bad as expected, though still very cold, I decided to go ahead and run my errands. Reggie was so desperate to go with me, I almost didn't go. I didn't want him left in a cold car while I went in stores. Throughout the morning he would run to the door any time he thought I was going out and then come sit by me and wag his tail and smile. Once I realized it wasn't hideously awful, the two of us set off. Once the heater warmed up the car the first time, we never felt cold and I wasn't in any store more than 15 minutes. Reggie was warmer in the car than I was walking to and from the car. So it all worked out very nicely.
We got in the car and I was looking at the wipers when I noticed that one was longer than the other one. I'd forgotten the car originally came like that. I could tell the body shop had put the shorter wiper on the driver's side and my brain clicked back 12 years and decided that was wrong. I called Honda and they confirmed the wiper lengths and that the longer wiper should be on the driver's side. The body shop switched the blades into the proper positions and then entirely removed each wiper and reattached it at a different angle so the resting position was closer to the hood. Now my wipers are happy and are not hitting the frame of the car and are in the proper resting position. Yay. Last night was the first after-dark driving I've done since getting the car back and I couldn't tell if the headlights are too high or if they were just covered in salt from the snowy-road conditions. I told the guy and he said they'd adjust them if needed. Good grief. Why didn't that stoopid truck get de-iced so I wouldn't have to go through this waste of time!
I think I'm going to fix some apple cider, grab a good book, watch part of Project Runway, and veg out. If I only had a fireplace!
Based on the height of the snow on his legs, I'm guessing that cold paws my have been the least of Reggie's worries.

Cold paws only tend to be an issue when snow is stuck betweens the pads of his paws...brrr!
