Status Check (Updated 12-31-07: I've deleted stuff from this posting as it was too much blather):
- Car in body shop: I got my car back from the body shop on Wednesday. Everything seemed a OK until Friday when I had to use the wipers. They don't have the wipers adjusted correctly and the driver's side wiper is hitting the frame of the car. I'm going to have to take it back to the body shop for it to be adjusted, since I haven't been able to do it myself.
- Year-end business tasks: I have one more expense to figure out and enter into the books and then proof everything that's been entered since September. I'll have to wait till Monday to issue my final paycheck of the year. I've done the only tax form that has to be finished by Dec. 31. Unfortunately, there are several tax reports, forms, and payments that have to be completed in January and February, but can't even be started until after Dec. 31. When I say several, I can think of about nine reports, forms, and payments I'll have to make. Ugh.
Humidifier: I have been fighting with my humidifier for several days. When I moved into this house there was an ancient, non-working humidifier hanging from a vent that goes across the entryway to my utility room. It was all metal and looked like a tank. That was replaced within a few months of living here. The second unit lasted a few years, but then shorted out. So I'm on my third humidifier. The problem with this humidifier is that it needs a new filter every year. This doesn't sound like a big thing, but look at the picture. Workers hate working on my humidifier, furnace, water heater, etc. As you can see there is no room. (It's all in a closet and the wood on the right is the closet door. The back wall is one inch from the back of the water heater...all very cramped. The humidifier is the white thing hiding behind the water heater's vent.) This time I got the new filter in and nothing worked. I took it apart several times playing with it. I adjusted the water valve and it suddenly started working...only it was leaking. For days I play with the water level--it either leaked or didn't work. I've never had problems like this before, I think I finally have it working, but what a waste of time!
- Never mind, this is getting depressing!
I haven't even started the clothes shopping that I wanted to do. Sigh.
